A Report- Distress to De-Stress (Handling Examination Stress)

“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.”-Christopher Robin

Students often experience pressure during examinations, making it essential to identify the causes of stress and adopt effective coping mechanisms. With this objective, the Health & Wellness Resource Centre, under the mentorship of Dr. Alka Saxena, curated an interactive module for Classes VI to VIII. The sessions were conducted between January 28 and February 11, 2026, focusing on equipping learners with practical strategies to manage exam-related stress.

The program was designed around a dual framework—personalized exam preparation and morale building. Students were guided on overcoming procrastination, mastering time management, enhancing memory skills, and recognizing their individual learning styles. Through engaging PPTs and videos, they were encouraged to maintain optimism, believe in their abilities, take adequate rest for better cognitive processing, consume nutritious food, and create SMART timetables to follow with discipline. The importance of studying in alignment with one’s concentration span rather than long, continuous hours was emphasized.

Relaxation techniques were introduced to help students maintain a calm and focused mind, thereby improving concentration over extended periods. The sessions also highlighted the importance of involving parents in the preparation journey, encouraging students to keep them informed and engaged for emotional support.

In addition, the module explored diverse learning methods, offering practical tips to reduce stress and sharpen focus. The significance of a balanced lifestyle—including healthy eating habits, regular exercise, and sufficient sleep—was underlined.

The initiative concluded on an encouraging note, assuring students that they could seek individual guidance from counsellors and Life Skills Facilitators whenever required. Overall, the program successfully instilled confidence, promoted healthy routine, and provided students with effective tools to navigate examination stress with resilience.
